The Black Web Awards

Launched in the Spring of 2006, the Black Web Awards began as an effort to highlight the myriad of original, positive websites with content from the Black perspective. Hosted exclusively at BlackWebAwards.com, the BlackWebAwards endeavored to produce an original free event where the internet public both nominated and later voted for their favorite websites in over one hundred categories ranging from religion and politics to entertainment and culture.

Every year since, the BlackWebAwards have continued to grow.  In year one, over 5,000 original nominations were cast from 35 countries, and over 118,000 votes were cast from over 80 countries.  In year two, nearly 650,000 votes were cast from 130 countries.  By all measures, the Black Web Awards became an international success and are now globally recognized as the gold standard for Black excellence online.  In this our Fifth year, we expand yet again by embracing the mobile revolution.  When the awards open for nominations and voting, you will be able to cast your ballots right from your favorite iPhone or android powered cell phone.  Excitement is already building for another vibrant and humbling opportunity to say "job well done" to your favorite websites and blogs.  Some domains will work to defend their title of "Best in category", while fans and supporters of new websites will get the opportunity to participate.

On behalf of GatewayBlack.com, Inc., we welcome you to the new BlackWebAwards.com website. We invite you to visit the various pages, review the rules, visit the websites from prior winners and download our apps for the iPhone and android powered phones (Blackberry apps coming soon).  Should you wish to participate or volunteer with the Black Web Awards, feel free to contact us for more information.
